Hey brothers, some of you may know the feeling of walking outside on a cold day after a hard workout in the gym. The cool air hitting your face. It feels fresh and invigorating. This rejuvenating sensation can be tamed. And it comes with great benefits for your skin. Let me introduce you to the facial ice roller. Chances are you've heard of it or seen it somewhere in the past. And there's a reason for that: ice rolling is on the rise, if not already an established topic in the skincare game. Let me break down why you should start using an ice roller in your skincare routine.
Reduces puffiness and soothes swelling, irritation and redness
It's normal to wake up with a little puffiness, it happens to the best of us. The cause could be lack of sleep, allergies, or maybe it's just not your day. This is where the ice roller comes in. The cooling massage reduces fluid retention and targets puffiness by stimulating lymphatic drainage. I noticed that this effect was very visible around my eyes. I myself, and I think this is true for most of us men, have to shave my face on a regular basis. I have often struggled with irritated skin, creating bumps that make shaving even more difficult in the future. When I made the decision to add an ice roller to my skincare routine, I noticed that the irritation and burning started to decrease. This alone was enough to keep me committed to ice rolling my face.
Method: Use the ice roller in gentle, upward motions over your face and neck for the best circulation.
Improves absorption of skincare products
For those of you who already have an established skincare routine, you know that buying skincare products can get expensive. So we want to get the most out of those products. Ice rolling helps us do that. Because the cold temporarily tightens the skin and reduces the appearance of pores, it allows products to penetrate deeper. Which increases their benefits. What works best for me is rolling after applying my dark spot serum.
Method: Apply your serum, then follow with the ice roller to enhance absorption. You will glow like a king.
Relieves tension
The skin benefits alone are worth using the ice roller for. But it also relaxes our facial muscles. Which is perfect after a long day of meetings, studying, socializing and smiling, or whatever it is you're up to. The ice roller will help you cool down the tension that has built up. A quick massage over the jawline, temples and forehead is more than enough to get this relaxing experience. Which is great, because I'm sure we all love a little time efficiency in our routines.
That's great and all, but what kind of ice roller do I need?
Ice rollers come in different shapes and sizes. And there are many different options, each offering the benefits of ice rolling. I recommend the type of ice roller I use myself. It has a sealable hole on the top for pouring water. And the sides are non-slip, which doesn't seem like a big deal until you have to take it out of the freezer and remove the top to start rolling. Trust me, it helps. It doesn't take up much freezer space, and it has a decent balance when you put it down in the middle of your skincare routine. Get it here or click on the image.
Method: Change the ice/water as often as possible. Struggling to get the top off? Pour some heated water over it for a good 15 seconds. It should come right off.
Method summary
There are many benefits to using an ice roller in your skincare routine: Reduce puffiness: Roll in gentle upward motions Soothes and calms irritated skin Improves product absorption: Apply after serum Relieves tension: Just take it easy sometimes :) I hope I have been able to shed some light on this mysterious skincare artifact. To motivate you to start ice rolling. Follow the methods and I hope you'll be able to experience the benefits that come with ice rolling.
